Wannna be a Superstar?

Yesterday and today, I watched MTV's eliminations for their new show (I think it's a reality TV show), "Supahstar, The Supahstar Search". The contest has traveled to three of the key cities here in the Philippines: in Baguio, Cebu and in Davao. The judges picked 10 contestants in those cities and their last stop is here in Metro Manila where they'll be choosing 20 contestants for the show ... The judges by the way were Andrew E, Rhada and Tim Yap.

SM Mega A atrium is filled with superstar wannabes with different gimicks to offer ... from their packaging, voice sytlistics ... but of course only a few got the X-factor and the superstar appeal. The elimination was patterned from American Idol where contestants get to sing in front of the judges and the judges will comment on the way you dress, the way you perform, the way you project your voice, voice quality, if you were off-note... yeah something like that ... Well, the contest itself is very entertaining ... there were contestants na who were really determined ... even singing their original pieces ... yeah and there were some who just joined because they thought it would be just for fun ... and there are those who are really just gutsy ... like William Hung.

The contestants who really impressed me are the Rappers and Hip-hoppers ... Truthfully I was really biased with that genre of music often times. How come people appreciate a kind of music of mumbling words so fast, sometimes with illicit lyrics, and most of the time you really don't understand... but in that contest, I learned that Hip-Hop is not just a music genre, it's a lifestyle of how people live their life in a particular place ... there's a Hip-Hop subculture in Bronx, and there's a hiphop subculture in LA, and even in Germany ... I really learned new things from Andrew E. , the Hiphop contestants (who seemed like they adopted the American Hip-Hop influence)and Cindy Kurleto who is a Hip-Hop fan... so I guess I have respect now in terms of HipHop... still not my music preference pero di ko na siya dinedespise.

But I think what amuses me is my ability to sense which contestant will be chosen... like I already knew what they're looking for. Most of the time the judges' picks are also my picks ... maybe I could be a judge someday ... Oh, yeah before I forgot ... well in the first day, MTV VJ Mark was on cam in the show and he was interviewing some people who were watching, I was too busy watching that I didn't realized he came over me and started asking questions ... I was really conscious of myself ... but I answered all his question quite good ... So! Watch for my scoop in Wednesday, 7:00 PM and see if they will be airing that interview with me.

One Voice - Revisited

I recently purchased the "One Voice" CD - which is an Easter presentation by the church I'm attending in Makati and watched it in an internet café near my place... Again, I can say that I'm moved again by the presentation and how I wish that my church-mates in Davao can also see it... I'm thinking of sending them a copy. For "One Voice" synopsis, look in 4/01/2004 - 4/30/2004 archive...

A New Day Has Come

Makikisingit muna ... mga Greetings!
First of all to my brother Aris ... Happy Birthday! Maayo ka pa giahtagan ug 1T ni tatay.
Secondly to my friend Mayang who is currently in Munichen(Munich),Germany together with the HIMIG singers! For everybody's information, the HIMIG singers won first place in their first choral competition there in Germany! Congratulations sa kanila! They'll be going to other European countries after that to compete in other choral festivals. Let's just pray that they will sweep all the first prizes in all choral festivals they'll be competing and bring our country on the map...
Thridly to Kevin whose blog currently ranks #8 in Xanga's top 50 blogs... Hope maka-reach ka ug number 1.

Okay to the main event...

Yesterday I made a pact with a friend. We promised to change our "evil" ways and change for the better.

Well, what happened to me since I moved into our new room has been quite a drastic change. First of all, I became sick again... maybe because I was what you call this? "Nasubawan?", sorry for not knowing the English term... - well I could accurately describe what I have dealt with. My rhinitis was constant for almost a week. Most of the time, my nasal passageway was clogged with mucus and my nasal polyps are very much inflammed. During nights, coughing develops and I could hardly get enough sleep. But I thank now, all of these are gone now... and the house problems too... I repeatedly reminded our landlady to fix our roof and replace the burned out electrical outlet. The electrical outlet was burned due to a short circuit since water from the roof seeped into it... Well, those days came - a repairman and an electricial came and thank God that I don't have to re-arrange our sleeping area whenever rain comes...
I recently signed up in a local gym near our house ... well to lose weight. I was gaining a lot of weight nowadays due to the fact that I have been eating pizzas, pasta, ice cream and so on... I also take a weight loss supplement to speed it up. As to date I lost 6 lbs already, and that was quite a mere 2 weeks only of regular exercise - and I did check my diet too. I ate a lot of high protein foods like fish (tuna, salmon, bangus & ble marlin) and eggs... and they taste quite bland now ...nakakasawa. Maybe I should try to find another high protein food source.

Well and what about the first sentence in the first paragraph? What was that suppose to mean? Well, it's too personal to share but I tell you it is a good thing to start like having a new life again. I have never felt more peaceful in my life even though I don't have a job and I get to argue with people nowadays. Yesterday, I almost ended up in a heated conversation with an American (pirting English-English gyud!) until my friend pulled me out of the scene. Well, later on in the process I just found out that I have been frustrated with my life, why things seem to be unfair and why people take advantage of you (although they do it unconsciously) and maybe those are the reasons why I have been very moody, easy to flare up lately... Hmmm, I guess all is solved up and what remained in me is a hope to live and do my purpose of living... I have to find it out yet.
